Investigation of the Effect of Olanzapine and L-Carnitine on Rat Testis Tissue

Aim: Olanzapine has adverse effects on sexual dysfunction. There are a limited number of studies showing that it also causes structural changes in the reproductive system. This study aimed to examine L-Carnitine testicular damage caused by terms histopathological, sperm parameters, biochemical aspects. 
 Method: A total 48 adult Sprague-Dawley male rats were used our study. Rats divided into 6 groups, 8 each group: Control group (C), 200 mg/kg administered (LC), 2 low dose (LOZN), Olanzapine, and (LOZN+LC), 4 (HOZN), (HOZN+LC). Testicular tissues for determination MDA, IL-1B, IL-6, TAS, TOS levels, histological evaluation. Results: In groups receiving decrease count, increase IL-1β, values, dose-dependent histopathological tissue observed. Histopathological found at lower rate compared Olanzapine-only groups. Conclusion: It was concluded degenerative findings structure observed high-dose might be oxidative stress induced tissue. L-Carnitine, other hand, thought effective reducing degeneration damage.
